What Remains explores the overlooked beauty found in discarded objects throughout Toronto. Through photography, this project transforms garbage and litter into subjects worthy of aesthetic consideration, revealing the unexpected potential in what we choose to throw away.
By framing these discarded objects with intention and care, the project challenges conventional notions of beauty and invites viewers to reconsider what deserves our attention. Beyond aesthetics, What Remains engages with urgent questions of sustainability and overconsumption. The discarded objects serve as quiet witnesses to human behavior, raising questions about the lives they once touched: Who owned this? Why was it abandoned here? What story does its location tell?
